Not to be missed: Compersion Link

Hey all!So I’ve been preaching a blue streak of late about the practice of compersion, and here is a fabulous link to my beloved friend Eric Fracis’s site, a fantastic life resource called Planet Waves.  http://planetwaves.net/compersion.html

Magick if i ever saw it…

greetings, reader! this just arrived in my email box today from a spirited friend in trickster- dom.  i have a pair to spare! You can bring down a savage military dictatorship and save the people of Burma! Check out PANTIES FOR PEACE at http://pantiesforpeace.ca/

What can panties do for peace in Burma?

The Panties for Peace campaign plays on the regime leaders’ superstitious fear that contact with a woman’s underpants will rob them of their power. Women around the world are asked to post their panties to local Burmese embassies in a bid to strip the regime of its power and bring an end to its gross violations of human rights, especially those committed against Burma’s women.

UAC Reflection: EXPECTATIONS

Alchemy 101: From a Mirror, Conjure a Portal

My last afternoon muse in the sun room at  2922 Welton Street reminds me distinctly of the first afternoon… I sit alone in our fabulous VRBO in Five Points, Denver, Colorado feeling so much.  The theme of contemplation today is clearly distinct from the thought forms animating my mind one week ago when I arrived here.  I was also alone in the house then, brimming with anticipation of the coming week.  I rippled with expectation of the adventures to come.  My first United Astrology Conference will certainly not be my last.   The past seven days have been transformational and transcendental.

 I have learned so much.

The lessons commenced immediately, as did the synchronicity.  I began my astrological adventure with Richard Tarnas in hopes of learning a new and deeper method of observing planetary transits.   Mr. Tarnas’s manner of speaking was eloquently piscean.  It was a journey, though at times I recognized frustration welling up within me:  I felt myself such a beginner, yet Mr. Tarnas’s approach seemed shockingly simple and indistinct from my own existing practice.  It was a long session.  I left disappointed, obsessed with discovering the why behind this experience.   The gifts of the lecture would be realized later in the day, after a few other, more superficial expectations had been met.

Leading up to UAC I began to discover an online astrological community where I connected with a few astrologers personally via MySpace and blog forums.  In my voracious quest for deeper understanding of this magical craft, I had also connected anonymously with many notable astrologers via their blogs and newsletters.      I expected to meet the ones with whom I had corresponded directly, and anticipated seeing the ones whose reports I regularly read.

Uranus’s First Surprise

Unsurprisingly, Mr. Tarnas’s lecture was moved to the overflow room.  This meant that even though the sluggish lines at registration had delayed my arrival, I would still get a seat with a desk for note taking.  I got settled, poured myself some more creamy earl grey and began to observe the room full of other astrologers settling in too.  Mr. Tarnas was assisted with his recording device and just before the class began, a rather kinetic fellow shuffled into the room, his press pass blown over his shoulder by his momentum, and made eye contact with:

ME.

He strode confidently to the seat beside me and introduced himself warmly:

“I’m Eric Francis of PlanetWaves.net“

He didn’t indicate that my face betrayed my shock.  I had been reading his work regularly and could not believe that he was beside me of his own volition and in the flesh.  It was clear that this trip was as fated as I had imagined, but a la transiting Uranus completing a mutable grand cross over my natal t-square, not in the ways I had previously imagined.   I shifted gears, embracing mutability before the opportunity for adventure escaped me.

UAC Lesson Number 1: Abandon Expectation

Expectation seeded grows only disappointment.  I had many imaginings of the magic awaiting me as I approached this trip. It was not until UAC materialized in my reality that I truly faced them as spades.   I knew Richard Tarnas’s lecture would mark a profound shift within me; I only mistook the location of the shift.  I thought that in three hours time he would transmogrify my existing transit practice: WRONG.  Instead, I reaped more satisfying fruit: A proverbial pat on the back from THE MAN who wrote Cosmos and Psyche.  WTF?  How ridiculous of me to be disappointed with this confirmation!  Me, mere neophyte, had designed on my own approach toward transiting energies that was observational and self-reflective and Mr. Tarnas’s lecture assured me I was on the path… what better reception for the conference? A nod, affirmation: I was traveling the road with the masters already.   I had only to unpack the vivid expectations in my backpack so I could keep pace.

Infinite Gratitude

I wasn’t disappointed anymore.   Mr. Tarnas’s lecture HAD transformed me after all, and more deeply than I had hoped or initially noticed.  Without knowing what he had done, Richard Tarnas had stripped my shroud pretense.  He showed me a mirror, I looked deep within my own eyes and arrived.  The openness I harnessed via Richard Tarnas supported me throughout the event.  Even as I wrestled at times interpersonally with my expectations, the majority of the upset I experienced would remain intrapersonal.  Awww, my Leo Moon is growing up, and so am I: evolving into a version of myself at once familiar and advanced!

  I have released my expectations.

Now I vow to embrace life.

Playing in the Portal

That was not my last meeting with the esteemed Eric Francis, in fact, by some Uranian blessing unforseen it seems I’ve managed to collect him into my circle of friends, and for this I am blessed.  Equally blessed am I for befriending the fabulous Priya Kale (pryiakale.com) whose writing had also illuminated me prior to the UAC and will continue to keep me company thru time.  A quick shout out to Frey for the knowledge that Denver’s sun conjuncts my natal Part of Fortune.  A smile and much thanks to Chris for the incalculable number of  laughs and insights we shared. Please be sure to check out Greg’s web book shop Astrology et al (astrologyetal.com) in lieu of amazon.com for all your astrological reference needs!  I will treasure my jacketed copy of Dane Rudhyar’s The Astrological Houses (out of print) for evermore. I am also able to count myself acquainted with many other modern astrologers of note and am satisfied to report that though some of my expectations were painfully dashed, I overflow with gratitude for knowing each soul I encountered a little better than before.

Sometimes when lightening strikes we are shown that there was nothing much to see despite what we imagined in our mind-space.  And it is only then that we are gifted the Presence to accept our surprise blessings, apparently chance encounters and unplanned meetings as the magical gifts of the Heavenly Energies who light our paths and support us in our Earth adventures through such synchronicity.

Uranus offered me gifts aplenty throughout the duration of UAC, some stormy, all illuminating.   In many ways, as the sun ingressed Gemini and contacted my natal progressed sun, I felt as though I had been given a surprise party.  I am certain the gifts have not all been opened, and somewhere within me a portal pulses, placidly awaiting the next clap of thunder.

My gratitude is boundless, and I offer homage to Uranus and Friends in the form of incense and dress to dine one last at Mercury Cafe, 2199 California Street.

with my eyes on the sky and happiness in my heart i leave you in gratitude: *renee

An innovative, personalized approach to massage therapy and yoga

you are unique.  no other person on the planet has the exact same experience of living as you do on any level: physical, mental, spiritual emotional. your unique experience in your body is colored by everything activity you do, your work, your habits, your exercise or lack thereof, everything you eat, even everything you think!  as you go about your day the way you use your body- consciously or unconsciously- affects your experience.for example, if you sit at a desk most of the day, reaching forward to type & mouse, holding the phone between your ear and your shoulder,  your posture may be poor and you most likely experience neck pain and/or low back pain.  if, on top of this, you commute to work still sitting, reaching forward to grip the wheel, vigilantly watching the road and other commuters around you, the dysfunctional posture is reinforced.  and if when you get home, you slump onto the couch, exhausted, to relax in front of the t.v.,  you are further reinforcing the collapse of your posture and subsequently your pain.   add to that a history of injuries or surgeries (both of which create scar tissue) and the poor posture and pain associated with it can solidify. this scenario may be common, but each case of neck pain and low back pain is as unique as you- because the pain results from a complex series of actions (or inactons) that you do every day.  the more often we repeat these actions that affect our posture and cause us pain, the more entrenched pain can become. the human body was not intended to sit all day, but many of us must acquiesce and work at a desk for a living.this is where your Stellar Self-Care practice comes in to empower you to resolve your pain and reclaim your energy!if each body is unique, and each experience of pain a result of your unique history of movements, habits, actions, inactions  and injuries, how could a standardized, rehearsed massage routine address you directly? it can’t.  the Stellar approach to wellness integrates massage and yoga tailored to address you:  you set the tone for your session, informing you Stellar practitioner of your wellness goals, any pain you may be feeling, your routine, your health and accident history and a therapeutic approach is created just for you.  You stipulate the depth of pressure for your massage and any problem areas you perceive and the massage therapist will integrate you preferences into her approach.every Stellar massage or yoga session is as unique as you!
